| Ileostomy Procedure |
| Ileostomy is a surgical procedure in which the small intestine (ileum) is brought through the abdominal wall in order to bypass the large intestine; it's a diversion of the intestinal drainage from the normal route. Ileostomy can be needed after total colectomy. Digestive waste is channeled to an artificial opening called stoma. |
