Barnett Continent Intestinal Reservoir
Barnett Continent Intestinal Reservoir (BCIR), a well developed version of Swedish surgeon Nils Kock's Kock pouch is a surgically-created pouch, or reservoir, made out of the patient's small intestine (the ileum) attached to the anterior abdominal wall with a flush stoma. Stoma is a part of the bowel which has been brought to the surface of the skin on the abdomen.
