| Pouchitis is inflammation of surgically created internal pouch termed ileal pouch, a part of the diverted digestive channel of patients whose entire colon is removed in treatment of ulcerative colitis or familial adenomatous polypsis. The condition is usually treated with a short course of antibiotics. |
